The Bridge - short story by Izzie

One afternoon, Faye was walking throughout the woods scavenging for wild red mushrooms to add to her stew back at the cottage. On her way across to find the mushrooms she crossed a small bridge, that her grandfather and she had built, across the sparkling stream. In the center of the bridge was a green, moss-covered board that she had never really payed attention to. Faye realized that there was a dug out space in space in middle of the board. She contemplated taking out the knife she had brought and uncovering the rest, and decided she would. What she saw next confused her. Under the moss and damp foliage, she found what appeared to be a small wooden door. After and attempt to pull it open, she had an epiphany. The metal necklace from her father! She raced back to the cottage causing multiple things to make a 'pop' throughout the woods. Bursting in through the rounded door of her humble house, she sped to her room throwing heaps of clothes out of her drawermaking them 'swoosh' through the air, onto her wicker rocking chair. Once every last piece of clothing was rid of, she pulled up the trap door inside the drawer, snatching the dull metal chain of the necklace, and tripping over lost blouses that had fell to the floor. She trampled out of the cottage, running past rows of colorful, delightful smelling, bright rainbow tulips. She reached the bridge, and stopped, looking at the necklace that was in her fist. It was a bronze oval pendant, in the middle was what she always thought to be a decorative carving. She fidgeted with it for a few seconds when "clink", there at her feet lay a metal key.picking it up she stumbled loudly to the small door in the bridge, and wasted no time turning the key into the key-hole.
