Verse of the day!

#BibleBased

19 days until Christmas guys! I cant wait! Here is a bible chapter I really love and wanted to share with you all! The chapter is 1st Corinthians 13. It doesn't really specifically relate to Christmas, but it is helpful ALL of the time.... just like everything else in the Bible!

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:1‭-‬13 ESV

Ok so here are a few notes I have taken on this chapter in the Bible...

1. Try replacing the person you want to befriend or your crushes name with this.... I think this is a great chapter to look at to for people you may want to be in a relationship with, and I don't just mean the lovey-dovey, mushy-gushy kind either. It can apply to all types of relationships! Say for instance you want to be friends with someone you have been acquainted with for a while. Does this person have these characteristics? Does this person have these characteristics around everyone or just you? Is this person patient, kind, etc;? These are things you should think about when choosing friends and partners. (Note added to the note: you can be friendly to people and not be influenced by their sinful ways! Love the sinner hate the sin!)

2. It is also great to apply this to yourself and see areas YOU may need to work on. Are you patient and kind or are you envious and boastful? Also apply the fruit of the spirit along with this. Are you loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and self controlling?

3. Realize that God is DEFINITELY all of those things and as Christian's we ARE supposed to strive to be more like Jesus!

I've made a template below for all of you to fill out if you would like, to maybe help you see areas where you may need work. I know this has helped me, because like everyone else I am definitely not perfect, and sometimes actually VISUALLY seeing what I need to work on, helps me a lot. I hope you all got something out of this and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
