The Giant Despair
For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God.
1 Peter 2:20 ESV
In "A Pilgrims Progress" Christian and Hopeful fall prey to the Giant Despair who Imprisons them after leaving their main path. They were assuming the more appealing path was the better path. If they had continued following the main path they wouldn't have been captured by Despair and his wife Diffidence. They do however, escape with the key of promise, continuing on their original path. Despair tried to convince them to kill themselves, but Hope kept on reminding Christian of all his victories before this.
